Here at MOPS, we gather and support moms. We believe in the simple but revolutionary idea that remarkable things happen when moms come together. Our acronym stands for “Mothers of Preschoolers” because we began in 1973 when a group of moms with young children banded together to share their lives and parenting journeys.
Over the past 48 years, MOPS has expanded our community to include moms with school-aged kids. First Presbyterian Church hosts our MOPS group every other Friday.
What is the difference between MOPS & MOMSnext?
When we’re past the diaper years and sleeping through the night…
When we’re meeting more emotional needs than physical ones…
When we’re caught between our children needing us and not…
It’s time for MOMSnext.
We know your job as a mom doesn’t stop when your kiddos head off to school, and new challenges and struggles arise as you enter into the school years. During this stage of mothering we deeply need support, hope, encouragement and friendship. That is why we have MOMSnext.
Norfolk MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and MOMSnext are part of a wider organization, MOPS International. It encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women, and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership with the local church. Moms with kids from birth through kindergarten are part of MOPS; moms with kids older than kindergarten are part of MOMSnext.
At First Presbyterian Church Norfolk, we will have both groups together.
We are excited to offer this as a NEW connection point for women in 2022-2023!
This Year's Theme
WE GO TOGETHER is taken from Luke 5:18-20. We are going to Be Unoffendable (Romans 12:18), Show Up (1 Thessalonians 5:11) and Expect Good Things (Luke 5:24-26).
