Our Stories
Ron's Story
Ron was able to find a permanent housing solution in the spring of 2022 after having been a guest at the Shelter.
Yvonne's Story
Yvonne, a member of First Presbyterian Church Norfolk, has been an active participant in several URC programs. She also has been a regular volunteer with the homeless beginning with the NEST program at FPC in the winter of 2020. As the shelter moved to the Greyhound Bus Station and eventually the hotel location, Yvonne has continued to devote her time on a regular basis to the relationships she has forged with the guests.
Washington's Story
Washington has found employment and housing after having stayed at the NEST shelter at FPC.

Mariam's Story
Mariam, an international student from Lebanon, began volunteering with the homeless community at NEST during the winter of 2020. She has continued to serve as a staff volunteer at the shelter as it moved to the Greyhound Bus Station and eventually the current hotel locaiton.
